What I got wrong about stretching

I held long stretches for years and got nowhere. Three things I do differently now.

For years I held each stretch for two minutes, breathed, and waited. I got very good at waiting.

Three things I do now

  • I move in and out of the end of the range instead of hanging there.

  • I make the muscle work in its longest position, lightly.

  • I stop while it still feels like something I would do again tomorrow.

None of that is new. It is only less comfortable to sell than relaxing on a mat.
